Ae Ae Fruits

Well, after little more than a year, I have my first Musa 'Ae Ae' fruits. As you can see the fruits share the same beautiful variegation that the leaves, petioles, and trunk have. I have not tasted the Ae Ae fruits yet, but I hear they are creamy and delicious. I am looking forward to tasting them. Without further ado here are those pictures of my Ae Ae fruits!

They aren't ripe yet! They're slowly filling out. I'll post some pictures when they are fully ripe.

It's been several months since this post I noticed, and after a little banana shopping I just had to find out about the fruit of the Ae Ae (always thought they were strictly ornamental) - So I found this and gotta ask, how was the taste?

They are edible, but I wasn't impressed with the taste as a dessert banana. They did make excellent plátanos maduros (fried plantains). So I would guess that they are more of a plantain type then a dessert type banana. Thanks for your interest.
